Motiva 340cc Axillary Incision, Accessory Breast Removal & Dual Plane: Week 1 Review

Both sides got the same Motiva 340cc implants, done through an axillary incision, with accessory breast removal and dual plane technique.

I heard that UNE is a breast-specialty clinic run by a single surgeon, Dr. Kim, and that because the surgery time is short there's less bleeding and recovery tends to go easier, so I booked a consultation right away. (The staff were super friendly from the moment I called, and every time slot I wanted was available, which was nice.)

Even before going in, I was already drawn to the idea of a one-doctor breast-specialty clinic instead of some big factory-style place, so I basically walked into the consultation already 80% decided I'd get my surgery done here.

I booked consultations at three different clinics in one day, and UNE was my last stop. (The other two clinics had pretty long wait times, but at UNE there was no waiting at all.)

I'd already put down deposits at both of the other two clinics before coming to UNE for my last consultation.

I talked with the coordinator first, then Dr. Kim measured my body shape, went over the different implant types, and had me try out different cc sizes. After that I talked with the coordinator again, and by that point I just knew I had to get it done here.

The coordinator explained everything about the surgery clearly and kindly, both before and after my consultation with Dr. Kim, which I really appreciated. Dr. Kim also went over my body shape really carefully and explained in detail which implant size, incision spot, and approach to the accessory breast removal would suit me best.

On the day of surgery, right before I went under, the coordinator held my hand tight and kept checking in — asking if I was scared, if I was doing okay — which felt so warm and reassuring. It really helped calm my nerves a bit.

I was told the whole surgery, including the accessory breast removal, took about 40 minutes total.

Right after surgery, my throat was sore from the general anesthesia, and since the accessory breast removal was done at the same time, my armpits throbbed and it was hard to lift my arms.

My chest felt tight and uncomfortable from the upper band and compression garment, but the discomfort wasn't too intense (though it definitely wasn't zero discomfort either).

While I was recovering with the pain management, Dr. Kim stopped by the recovery room, walked me through how the surgery went, checked the area again, and mentioned there had been almost no bleeding.

Once the pain management was done, I headed home just an hour after surgery.

The next day wasn't as bad as I expected — mostly just tightness from the upper band, a weird indigestion-like feeling from the compression garment, firmness in my chest, and some numbness.

Around day 3 to 5, my upper chest kept feeling like it was swelling up like a balloon, and I got scared it might actually burst, so I ended up texting and calling the emergency line the clinic had sent over KakaoTalk in the middle of the night. I kept sending photos and updates to the coordinator and the clinic the whole time.

Thankfully I barely had any bruising, and there weren't any major visible issues like swelling around my collarbone.

By the evening of day 4 the swelling seemed really bad, so I reached out again, and they got me an appointment for the next day. I went in and Dr. Kim checked me out and took care of it.

Dr. Kim told me I was healing well and everything was progressing nicely, which put my mind at ease.

I also learned the right way to wear the upper band, and after that visit I could go about my day without much discomfort (the swelling went down so much it was like the ballooning never even happened).

Like you can see in the day 7 photos, the shape started looking a bit more natural compared to right after surgery, and the firmness was starting to ease up too.

My upper chest still puffs up a little right when I wake up, but it's improved a lot and doesn't really get in the way of daily life anymore.

During the consultation I was told my skin is on the tighter side, and after surgery I could feel that tightness myself, so I've been sticking closely with the upper band. (I hear other people get to stop wearing it after 7 days, but I'll probably need to keep mine on longer.)

Starting day 6 I was back at work with zero issues (I have a desk job).

Other than lifting my arms overhead or using force, everything's fine.

Including the day of surgery, I used 4 days off total (with the weekend added in, that's 6 days off before going back to work).

When I was dealing with the discomfort after surgery, I did briefly wonder if I really needed to go through with this. But after looking back at my before photos and actually seeing and touching the results myself, that thought completely disappeared.

I'd heard so many times before surgery that breast augmentation ranks #1 in patient satisfaction, and now that I've been through it myself, I get why. Even now, with the swelling and firmness not fully settled yet, I'm already happy with it — so I can't wait to see how it turns out once the swelling goes down and everything settles into place naturally.
