Breast augmentation before and after — real patient review | UNE Plastic Surgery

Motiva 340cc on both sides / transaxillary incision / accessory breast tissue removal / dual plane surgery

I had heard that UNE is a breast specialty clinic with a single doctor, and that the short operating time means less blood loss so the recovery goes smoothly, so I booked a consultation right away. (The staff were kind from the moment I made the booking, and every time slot I asked for was available, which was great.)

Even before I went in, I was drawn to the fact that it was not a factory-style clinic but a one-doctor breast specialty clinic, so I arrived at the consultation already about 80 percent decided that I would have my surgery here.

I booked consultations at three places in one day, and UNE was the last one. (At the other two clinics the wait was long, but at UNE there was no waiting.)

I had already put down deposits at both of the other two, and then came to UNE for my final consultation.

I met with the coordinator first, then had a session with Dr. Kim covering body measurements, implant types, fitting by cc and so on, and after another session with the coordinator afterward, I felt certain I had to have it done here.

Before and after Dr. Kim's consultation the coordinator also explained breast surgery in detail, kindly and in a way that was easy to follow, which I really appreciated, and Dr. Kim examined my body type thoroughly and went over the implant size that suited my frame, the incision site, the accessory breast tissue removal and so on in fine detail, which I liked.

On the day of surgery, in the operating room before the anesthesiologist put me under, the coordinator held my hand tightly and kept asking whether I was frightened and whether I was all right, comforting me, and it was so warm and kind. Thanks to that my nerves eased at least a little.

They told me the surgery took 40 minutes in total, including the accessory breast tissue removal.

Right after surgery my throat hurt from the general anesthesia, and because the accessory breast tissue removal was done at the same time, my armpits throbbed and it was hard to raise my arms.

My chest felt uncomfortable and tight from the upper band and the compression garment, but the level of pain was not very severe (it was not that I felt nothing..)

While I was resting on the pain-relief drip, Dr. Kim came into the recovery room, explained the surgery, checked the surgical sites once more, and told me there had been almost no blood loss.

I finished the pain-relief drip and went home about an hour after the surgery.

The next day it hurt less than I had expected, and about all I felt was the tightness of the upper band, a sense that I could not digest properly because of the compression garment, firmness in my chest, and numbness

On days 3 to 5 I kept feeling as if my upper chest was swelling up, puffing out like a balloon as though it might burst, and it frightened me, so I used the emergency line in the KakaoTalk message the clinic had sent and called and texted for advice in the early hours, and I kept in touch with the coordinator and the clinic, sending photos along with updates on how I was doing.

Fortunately there was almost no bruising, and no major visible problems such as swelling around the collarbone.

On the evening of day 4 the swelling seemed too severe, so I got in touch again and they booked me a visit for the next day, and I went in to be examined and cared for by Dr. Kim.

Dr. Kim told me I was healing well and that my progress was good, which put me at ease.

I also learned how to wear the upper band properly, so after that visit I was able to go about my life without much discomfort (the swelling went down so noticeably that you would never guess my upper chest had been puffed up)

As you can see in the day 7 photos, the shape was starting to look a little more natural than it had at first, and some of the firmness was going away as well.

My upper chest still puffs up when I wake up, but it has improved a great deal and daily life was completely fine.

At the consultation he had said my skin was on the tight side, and after surgery I can feel that tightness myself, so I am making a point of wearing the upper band. (I hear other people are free of the upper band after 7 days, but I plan to wear mine longer..)

I went back to work from day 6 and it was not a strain at all (I have a desk job)

Apart from raising my arms and exerting force, no issues.

Including the day of surgery, I used 4 days of annual leave in total (counting the weekend, I rested 6 days before going back to work)

While I was in pain after the surgery, I briefly wondered whether I had made a mistake in having breast surgery. After surgery, once I looked at my pre-op photos and saw and touched my own breasts, that thought disappeared entirely.

Before surgery I had heard so many times that breast surgery ranks first for patient satisfaction, and now that I have been through it myself I know that for certain. Even now, when the swelling and the feel have not fully settled, I am happy with it, so I am really looking forward to what it will be like later, once the swelling goes down and it becomes fully natural.
