I'd always gone through life thinking my chest wasn't completely flat, but once I started working out that changed haha. A clinic that specializes in breast surgery really is different. You can feel the know-how of someone who has only ever focused on breast surgery.
My hips got bigger, my shoulders got wider, my frame kept getting better, and only my chest stayed the same, so it looked even emptier by comparison ㅠㅠ
I trained really hard with weights so I had pecs and some upper chest too…
Anyone who works out knows what I mean.
Muscle is muscle and breast is breast hahaha
There's an area that simply never fills in.
It was my first cosmetic surgery so I agonized over it a lot.
Breast surgery has a lot of revision cases and it isn't easy to undo once it's done, so I decided I had to go somewhere that was genuinely good at it. I only looked around Gangnam and booked consultations at six clinics in total.
UNE was the fourth of those, and the moment I walked out of the consultation I cancelled all the rest haha!!
Honestly, even before going in for the consultation I had looked at a ton of the before-and-after photos and reviews on the website.
I already trusted the director's aesthetic sense to some degree going in, and the consultation made me certain.
He measured my proportions thoroughly and explained things I hadn't known about (to be fair, other clinics did this part too).
But here's what the difference was: at other clinics it was more like “this many cc is possible,” “we can put in more if you want,” “we can fit from here to here.”
Whereas Dr. Kim Uigeon started by asking “what kind of look do you want?” and it felt like he was working through with me which shape would look best for my frame! As a breast specialist, he recommended the beautiful shape that would suit my body type best.
It wasn't simply “this many cc is possible” or “anything beyond this is a no” — it really came across as “I'll make it look beautiful for you”!
⸻
I was still going back and forth right up until the surgery.
Whether to do 265/285 or 285/300
But then, on the day of surgery while doing the markings, the director checked how much my upper breast projected in more detail than at the earlier consultation, and told me with confidence that of the two options he had recommended, the larger one would come out better.
(For someone who can't make decisions, that kind of confident recommendation matters so much ㅠㅠ) It's not about how many cc — in the end it just has to look good!
Walking into the operating room I was honestly scared haha
But I guess my nerves showed, because the coordinator held my hand the whole way in and I was so touched…
The operating room was as clean as the ones you see in dramas and the staff radiated professionalism.
And most importantly, the board-certified anesthesiologist explained the anesthesia process to me himself, which put my mind much more at ease.
Just as he explained, I put on the mask and took a few breaths… and when I opened my eyes I was already in the recovery room.
⸻
The first thing that crossed my mind when I came out of anesthesia was
“Huh? This hurts less than I expected?”
The tight, heavy feeling was bigger than any soreness, and the director came in right away to check my breasts and said the inframammary fold had stretched out well, so I probably wouldn't need the upper band.
So we took the upper band off right then and wow… that heavy feeling almost completely went away hahaha. Turns out what had been bothering me was the upper band.
There really is a reason people talk about how manageable Dr. Kim Uigeon keeps the discomfort.
Soon after, the director came by and explained the surgery time (34 minutes?) and my condition, and checked carefully whether I had any discomfort.
He checked my breasts again and said the inframammary fold had stretched out well, so I wouldn't really need the upper band,
so we took the upper band off and just added the cleavage strap instead! Not having the upper band was so nice!! I may have had breast surgery, but I don't even know how to wear an upper band!! heh
On a side note, Dr. Kim Uigeon is so meticulous and so kind... watching him personally check and adjust even the hooks on my compression bra touched me all over again…!
⸻
Days 1 to 3, honestly,
all I kept thinking was “why doesn't this hurt?” haha
Since it didn't hurt, I assumed the next day would be worse, but it was more like the muscle soreness you get the day after a hard workout?
I had the transaxillary incision, so my armpits feeling a little uncomfortable was the bigger issue for me.
I had almost no bruising anywhere on my chest or armpits — around day 3 a bruise about the size of a thumbnail came up faintly on my right armpit, and that was it!
I think a big part of that is that the surgery time was short.
The dissection goes precisely and swiftly, so there's less bleeding, and with less bleeding the healing seems to come along better too.
Personally, I think that's why the early stage of recovery went so smoothly for me
⸻
Day 5 after surgery to now (day 10)
On day 5 I went in for a progress check and aftercare, and then I showered and looked, and wait… it already looks good hahaha
I'd seen plenty of reviews where things are still like a lump of rock at this stage, but my shape was better than I expected so I was like, what is this? This is great, isn't it? heh
The director checked whether anything was uncomfortable and looked at my breasts, then said “it shouldn't settle too fast,” removed the cleavage strap and adjusted the compression bra straps a bit tighter. I loved this kind of detailed feedback ㅠㅠ
Maybe that's why — I'm on day 10 now and the upper breast volume feels like it has filled in a little more, and it keeps looking better.
I really do think choosing a clinic with a single director was the right call. This kind of detailed progress checking and feedback turns out to matter a lot more than I thought. Anyway, it already feels like it's softening and I'm really happy with the shape.
I can't wait to see how much better it looks at one month and at three months!!
⸻
It was my first cosmetic surgery, so I agonized a lot over everything from choosing the clinic to deciding on the surgery.
So I wrote this hoping it helps even a little for people who train hard like me or who are weighing up breast surgery.
For anyone considering surgery, I hope you find a clinic that fits your own body type and the style you want.
I'd totally suggest getting enough consultations at several places! And do go and see UNE once too!!
The photos are from day 4 after surgery!
And this one is before surgery, ta-da
