Many people describe severe chills in the recovery room, but I had none at all — I think it was because the heater and heated mat were already on. Instead, my chest, armpits, and neck hurt quite a bit. From surgery day through day four it was genuinely hard. Caring for two kids with an aching, awkward body, regret washed over me with every breath. But by day five, my body adjusted. Now I am slowly getting hooked on the joy of looking in the mirror after a shower.
