Motiva Full 275/295cc: Subfascial, Inframammary Incision, Week 1 Review

Growing up I dieted a lot and lost most of the fat in my breasts, so my upper breast area was basically flat. I didn't even think about surgery back then, and later when I gained the weight back I didn't really worry about my chest much either.

But as I got older I started noticing more sagging. I wanted to get it done before it got any worse. A lot of people around me had gotten breast surgery too, and hearing that the results looked pretty and it wasn't as scary or painful as I imagined gave me the courage to go for it.

After a lot of thought I decided to get consultations, and I ended up visiting three places total. UNE was the second place I went to. They were really thorough with the consultation, and the biggest reason I chose them was the explanation that a shorter surgery time means less pain. Since there were so many good clinics out there, I figured if I kept consulting around I'd never actually make a decision, so I went ahead with the surgery about a month after my consultation.

The day before surgery I wasn't as nervous as I thought I'd be, so I actually slept really well. Right after the surgery I had some pain for a bit — I also had an accessory breast procedure done at the same time, so that probably added to it. Still, after resting in the recovery room for about an hour I felt a lot better. Surgery started at noon and I was discharged around 4pm. I was so hungry that I actually went out to eat with a friend before heading home.

Surprisingly, it wasn't the incision area itself that bothered me most — it was the compression bra, gauze, and the upper band pressure. My whole body felt squeezed tight, like my circulation wasn't great, and that tightness was the most uncomfortable part.

When I first saw my chest I remember thinking, 'huh, it's smaller than I expected,' but as the days went by and the swelling went down, it started looking more natural and fuller. Dr. Kim mentioned that going too big for my body type could actually end up looking bulky, and that this size suits me best — and honestly, the more time passes, the more I think he was right.

It's only been a week so the shape is still settling and there's more swelling to go down, so I'll have to keep watching how it develops, but already my clothes fit differently and my upper breast volume looks so much better — I'm really happy about it. Before, not having much volume sometimes made me feel less confident, but now I feel good every time I look in the mirror and my confidence has gone up a lot. I'm looking forward to seeing how the recovery goes from here.
