When I was younger I dieted often, and I lost so much breast tissue that my upper breast was almost gone. Back then I never thought as far as surgery, and later I gained the weight back, so I went on without worrying much about my breasts.

But as I got older, they started to feel like they were sagging. I began thinking I wanted to have the surgery before they dropped any further. More and more people around me had had breast surgery, and I kept hearing that the results looked pretty and that it wasn't as scary or as sore as they had expected, so I worked up the courage.

After a lot of thinking I decided to go for consultations, and I visited three clinics in total. UNE was the second one I went to. The consultation was really thorough, and the explanation that a shorter operating time means less soreness was probably the biggest reason I decided on them. There are so many good clinics out there that I felt I would never decide if I kept going to more consultations, so I had the surgery about a month after that consultation.

The night before surgery I was less nervous than I expected and slept well. Right after the surgery there was some soreness for a little while, and I think it hurt a bit more because I had my accessory breast tissue done at the same time. Even so, after resting about an hour in the recovery room I felt much better. My surgery was at 12 and I was discharged around 4 p.m. I was so hungry that I even went out to eat with a friend before heading home.

Surprisingly, the compression bra, the gauze, and the pressure from the upper band were harder to deal with than any soreness at the surgical site itself. My body felt squeezed tight, like my circulation wasn't quite right, and that constricted, stuffy feeling was the biggest thing.

When I first saw my breasts I thought, "smaller than I expected?" But as time passed and the swelling went down, they started to look more natural and to have more volume. Dr. Kim had also said that with my body type, going too big could end up looking bulky, and that this size suits me best, and the more time goes by the more I think he was right.

It's only been a week, so the shape will keep settling and more swelling still has to go down, and I'll need to watch it a bit longer. But my clothes already fit differently and I can see the volume in my upper breast has come back, so I'm really happy with it. I used to lose confidence sometimes because I had no volume, but now I feel good every time I look in the mirror and I've gained a lot of confidence. I'm looking forward to how the healing goes from here.
