UNE Plastic Surgery Breast Augmentation — Week 1
I finally fixed the one complex I'd been stressing about for like 20 years!
It's been a little over a week since my surgery at UNE.
Since this is a big surgery, I made my decision after reading a ton of other people's reviews,
so I wanted to leave my own progress review too, haha.
- My stats
Height 163cm, weight 54kg
Going from AA to somewhere between a low C and a full C
Got Motiva 340cc on the right and 300cc on the left.
My bras literally didn't do their job — I used to joke I only wore one to stay warm, lol.
I've got some weight on my lower body and my shoulders aren't narrow either,
so my small chest always threw off my proportions.
That said, I didn't want to go too big either — I was worried it'd look heavy or change my whole look too much.
My top priority was getting a pretty, natural result that actually fit my body,
so I read through SO many reviews before deciding.
- Choosing a clinic
I narrowed it down to a few places, and my criteria were:
1. Natural shape and size (anywhere that looked too fake was out)
2. Trust in the doctor's skill / safety
3. A surgery and recovery process that wouldn't be too hard on my body
4. Aftercare
That kind of thing.
Some clinics were hard to even get in touch with just for a consult booking,
(I figured aftercare would be just as hard to reach them for, so I crossed them off.)
Some places didn't even have their own anesthesiologist and sent you elsewhere for pre-op checks...
I kept narrowing it down, and after my consult at UNE I made up my mind, haha.
At other places I never got that "this is it" feeling,
but at UNE the consult was really thorough and long, the surgery itself is short, and Dr. Kim Uigeon has a lot of experience, so as a pretty nervous person, that gave me real confidence!
I went in without even deciding on implants or sizing, but he kept advising me all the way through while still leaving the final call to me, which I really appreciated.
He answered every question kindly, even my random, off-the-wall ones~
I'd actually had general anesthesia before for a different health issue,
so I knew exactly how much it matters to have a shorter surgery time,
and that really built my trust in him~!
So I came to trust Dr. Kim... but
this was my first time getting any plastic surgery and I tend to get anxious, so I was still scared going in. The coordinator and the rest of the staff were so kind though, which helped me let go of a lot of that fear (I think that matters a ton too!!)
Right before surgery, Dr. Kim went over everything carefully again, did the markings(?), and double-checked the sizing~ (He kept putting me at ease even then — total angel!!)
Since my breasts are pretty asymmetric with a noticeable size gap, he said 340cc might work better on the right instead of the originally planned 320cc, and I trusted him enough to just ask him to make the final call in the OR.
When I woke up in the recovery room, Dr. Kim came by himself to tell me he'd gone with 340cc and reassured me that everything went well.
He even caught and adjusted for a few things I hadn't mentioned beforehand, which I was so, so grateful for — that's when I really felt like it paid off to go with such an experienced surgeon, haha. The surgery took around 40 minutes I think.
Pain-wise, since it was the axillary incision, it hurt when I used my arms or tensed my upper body, and my chest felt tight and swollen (my tissue's naturally pretty firm), but
honestly my throat from the general anesthesia bothered me more than that~
I took public transit home carefully and just rested.
The pain in my chest and armpits lasted until day 2, so I just rested a lot,
and by day 3 it had improved a lot — I was even going on walks and feeling more relaxed.
After that the pain kept fading day by day, and now there's basically no chest pain at all besides an occasional twinge.
The surprise struggle was actually the compression bra...; I've never been great with tight clothes, and the bra has to hold things pretty snugly to shape the breasts properly.. ugh.
It's a little past a week now, and when I take the compression bra all the way off there's no pain,
but wearing the tight bra, the spots where it presses — my back, armpits — get uncomfortable^^; My back feels stiff when I wake up so I have to stretch it out a bit.
(Putting aloe gel on the spots that get pressed helped calm them down a bit!!)
On the plus side, I can use my arms way more freely now — as long as I avoid lifting heavy stuff or raising my arms overhead, I can even do housework comfortably~ I wash my hair bent forward over the sink instead of standing, haha.
Since it takes time for the breasts to settle even after surgery, I think staying in touch with the clinic really matters — and every time I reach out with a question, I get feedback super fast, which just keeps confirming I picked the right place, haha.
They said I can take the compression bra off for good around the one-month mark, and I'm already looking forward to how happy I'll be by then~ There's no surgical pain left, and I can see the upper fullness settling down a little more each day, haha. The texture's still kind of bouncy-ball firm, but I'm happy with both the shape and size, and it seems like it just keeps improving little by little with proper care, so I can't wait to go back for my next check-up!
I'll take good care of it and come back with another review later!! ^^
