Mentor Smooth 325cc, Inframammary Incision: Week 1 Review

Implant: Mentor Smooth Moderate Plus

Size: 325cc

Incision: inframammary (my inframammary fold was short so it was extended down about 3cm)

Technique: dual plane

Height/Weight: 160cm / 54kg

Other: slim upper body type + 75AAA + dense breast tissue + tight skin

I never really had much volume up top, but my chest bone kind of sticks out, so whenever I wore clothes my upper body looked flat while my sternum/upper stomach area stood out more in comparison — it always stressed me out.

Surgery was on Friday, May 1st at 10:30am (took about 40 minutes)

When I woke up in the recovery room, honestly the shivering from my body temperature coming back after anesthesia was harder to deal with than the chest pain I was expecting.

I was discharged around 1pm, and I actually felt good enough that I thought, 'I could probably just take public transit home.'

But around 1:35pm, my chest started feeling tight and heavy, like it was being squeezed, and the discomfort slowly started creeping in.

Before the surgery, pain was what worried me the most, but honestly it wasn't as bad as I expected. It wasn't so much sharp pain as it was this dense, heavy, packed-full feeling — like my chest had cement poured into it. It made me think, 'is this what people mean when they say the discomfort was manageable?' lol.

Honestly, the soreness from breastfeeding after I gave birth was way worse than this post-op discomfort. Even though my chest didn't get that much bigger back then, I remember that engorgement pain being brutal — so maybe because of that, or maybe because my chest had already grown a little after giving birth, this time around the discomfort didn't feel like a big deal.

The first night, sleeping flat on my back was actually fine — it was my lower back that bothered me more than my chest, so I woke up a couple times because of that.

The day after surgery I felt fine enough that I even went to a quick dentist appointment.

In the beginning I was kind of thrown off by how bulky my upper body looked with the compression band and gauze on, but once the gauze came off the next day it looked a lot more natural — I could even wear my usual work uniform and no one could really tell.

Right after surgery it looked a little smaller than I expected, which worried me a bit, but since I'm only at the 1-week mark, I'm assuming the upper fullness and firmness is still settling and things are still dropping into place.

I had quite a bit of purple bruising around the incision area. I saw a lot of reviews where people had barely any bruising, so I was a little worried, but it's fading more each day, and I'm getting it checked at the clinic today too.

I was honestly really nervous going in, but recovery has gone smoother than I expected, and so far I'm really happy with the results.
