Motiva 300/320cc Subfascial Breast Augmentation: Week 1 Review

Here's my 1 week review after getting Motiva breast augmentation at UNE Plastic Surgery!

75B > subfascial, Motiva 300cc left / 320cc right

It's a breast surgery specialty clinic with good reviews, and when I went in for my consultation everyone on staff was really nice. The coordinator's consultation was great too, and during my consultation with Dr. Kim Uigeon he showed me PPT slides and research papers and analyzed my body while explaining everything, which made me trust him. I just felt like this was the place, so I booked right then!

My appointment was at 3, and there was no wait time at all. Both the coordinator and Dr. Kim took their time with me without rushing, which I really appreciated!! I asked all my questions and thought things through — the whole consultation took about two hours total.

What I was worried about was size and shape. I went in thinking I was like an 80A or even smaller, but when he measured me with a tape measure he said I was actually more like 75B and that I had a decent amount of breast tissue, which surprised me! I also thought I had a pectus-type chest, but he explained that it was actually because the skin in the middle wasn't lying flat, which was why my breasts weren't coming together in the middle.

Since I had enough tissue, Dr. Kim said subfascial placement would be a good option for me, so after hearing the pros and cons I decided to go with that. I originally wanted Mentor Xtra over Motiva because I cared a lot about how natural it would feel, and I hadn't had any issues with that brand, but he mentioned that subfascial placement has a higher capsular contracture rate with that option. After a lot of back and forth I ended up choosing Motiva.

I wanted at least a full C to full D cup. When we were still planning on Mentor, he said 280cc would be enough to get me to a D/E, but once I switched to Motiva there was no 280cc option, so he recommended 300cc instead.

On surgery day I had the first slot,

arrived at the clinic at 9:45am, changed into my gown, and had my design consultation.

Went into the operating room around 10:30am, the anesthesiologist came in, and I was out.

I was moved to the recovery room around 11:50am!

Since I've actually worked at a hospital before, going in at 10:30 and waking up in recovery by 11:50 means the actual surgery time was probably under 40 minutes! My inframammary lines were pretty uneven to begin with, and he said he'd decide the size for the right side once he was in the OR, so it really seems like everything went fast.

Even up until surgery day we hadn't settled on a final size — he said if I went too big, it wouldn't match my body proportions or my breast base width, so I just left the decision up to him.

If you look at my before photos, there was a pretty noticeable difference between my right and left inframammary lines, with the right side being smaller. He'd said he'd decide in the OR whether to put in 300cc on both sides or go with 320cc, and in the end he told me he went with 320cc!

Right after surgery, when they were putting the compression bra and upper band on me in the OR, I remember thinking "wait, why does this look so small?" and asking about it. They told me this was actually the biggest it would look, so I panicked a little thinking, if this is as big as it gets, won't it look even smaller once the swelling goes down? Should I have gone bigger? But once I took off the upper band and some time passed, the size looked just right and the shape turned out really pretty, so I felt relieved lol.

Surgery day itself was rough, but the next day I basically just slept through it. By day 2 I was a little worried so I went in to see Dr. Kim and ask some questions, and he said everything looked fine — as long as I didn't overdo it, I could use my arms normally. He also said the shape looked good and everything was settling into place nicely, so I could take off the upper band if I wanted. I did, and it was so much more comfortable! From day 3 on things got even easier, I could go about my daily routine, and I could feel myself improving little by little. He said I could shower right away too, and since I could use my arms fine by day 3, I went ahead and showered then lol.

They said subfascial placement heals faster, and I guess that's why — I was back to my normal routine almost right away, which was such a relief!

The upper part isn't super soft yet, but it's only been a week and it seems to be loosening up nicely. The lower part is already completely soft, which honestly amazes me!!

They said I get unlimited follow-up care with Hi-lite and capsule care, so starting week 2 I'm planning to get capsule care about twice a week to keep things on track.

I hope the upper part loosens up soon and gets that nice natural feel >_<

The shape keeps looking better day by day, and the swelling and bruising seem to be improving too, so I'm really happy about that.

I can't wait to finally ditch the compression bra and go out and have fun this summer.

It's only been a week but I'm already really happy with it, and I'm getting more and more excited to see how it turns out!!
